Longrow 1973 First Distillation – Last Cask

Longrow 1973 First Distillation – Last Cask

Longrow Distillery was built in 1825 but ceased production before the end of that century. It was subsequently incorporated into Springbank Distillery, which lay on the opposite side of Campbeltown’s Well Close, and the remaining buildings were adapted for use as maturing warehouses for Springbank. In 1973 it was decided to create a second malt whisky from the stills at Springbank. Different malting and distilling techniques were adopted to emulate the reputed character of the old Longrow Distillery’s whisky.

This special release was bottled from cask #1723, the last to be filled during the inaugural year of production in 1973.
