Bruichladdich Octomore 09.3
The highlight of the annual Octomore release for Whiskyfix HQ is always the Islay barley expression. This year we have less peat by ppm but more abv%. An nice ‘progression’ of the .3 series in our opinion. Limited to just 18,000, and as usual, au natural.
Nose: Obvious peat, but more of that farmy, earthy aroma. Citrus fruits emerge alongside heather.
Palate: Lots of coastal notes, pears, black tea, floral notes and again, heathery peat smoke.
Finish: Salt and smoke!
