This big bold Laphroaig charges out of the glass with notes of coastal smokiness galore; iodine, beach bonfire, harbour rope and tar all abound. The palate brings in a rich backbone of chewy fruits revealing its secondary maturation in ex-sherry wood, and a little water shows a rich, deep smokiness spanning cherries, earthy peat smoke, Demerara sugar and grilled peaches. The texture, combined with powerful character gives an exceptionally long finish with wood smoke and rich fruit cake dancing on the palate.
