Thompson Bros 22yo Highland Park Scotch

Thompson Bros 22yo Highland Park Scotch has spent 22 years maturing in a single re-fill sherry butt and bottled at 55.9%. The cask yielded just 336 bottles, so expect lots of oxidative character within!

Nose: Nutella poured into the inside of a Kinder Bueno, a fresh loaf of malted sourdough, cranberries, magnolia, evaporated milk, plum crumble, a touch of sherry wood sulfur (by no means unwelcome) and, of course, heather.

Palate: Cacao nibs, charred pineapple, brandy butter, lots of fruit and lots of chocolate bound together by a gentle vein of smoke, kind of like a peated Crunchie bar.

Finish: Lasts quite a while. Expect Orange Creme, salted pretzel, a coffee-like bitterness, while peat softly rounds it all up.
