The 16th annual release of Port Ellen from Diageo’s range of special releases in late 2016. Distilled 1978, it is one of only 2940 bottles.
Nose: Wafts of leather, dunnage warehouse, soft peat smoke, tarry ropes, seashells, lemon peel, liquorice and water melon.
Palate: Lime zest, seaweed, demerara sugar, old oak, cigar smoke and pepper spice.
Finish: Long lingering bonfire ash and a slight saltiness.
