Lochlea Ploughing Edition Number 1 has been matured in ex-Islay casks (a combination of barrels and quarters) so it has a wee bit of peat influence. The barley itself is still unpeated, so the smoky notes are coming from the influence of the cask. The juicy fruit and cereal notes are still there, but there is a lovely peat smoke up front that lasts right through to the finish.
