Glen Mhor operated for less than a century, being founded in 1892 and closing in 1983. The distillery was located directly at the Caledonian Canal in Inverness, in the Scottish North Highlands.
This single cask bottling from Gordon & MacPhail was distilled in 1982 and filled into a refill sherry hogshead and left to mature for 40 years. It has been bottled at cask strength with an out turn of 174 bottles. This scored 93/100 on the highly respected whiskyfun blog.
NOSE: RICH SHERRY INFLUENCES WITH TOASTED HAZELNUTS AND SUBTLE MILK CHOCOLATE. MORELLO CHERRY NOTES DEVELOP ALONGSIDE SWEET TREACLE TOFFEE.
TASTE: INTENSE STEWED FRUIT LEADS TO PRESSED APPLE AND DEMERARA SUGAR. RASPBERRY COMPOTE COMBINES WITH SOFT WHITE PEPPER AND A HINT OF DRIED TOBACCO .
FINISH: A FULL FINISH WITH CITRUS AND SUMMER FRUIT.
