Ardnamurchan Heritage Barley Scotch Whisky
Ardnamurchan Heritage Barley Scotch Whisky is 100% unpeated whisky produced using Golden Promise, a long forgotten variety of barley which was regularly used in the whisky industry up until the 1980’s when distilleries turned to easier to grow and higher yielding types of barley. It is known for its fruity and floral characteristics.
Nose: Freshly opened digestive biscuits and warm, melted salted butter over baked oats – reminiscent of flapjacks. A soft dusting of icing sugar on marzipan, Battenberg cake like. Hints of apricot jam and a touch of honeyed sweetness rounds it out.
Palate: The marzipan note carries through, developing into poached almonds and subtle pistachio. Gentle sweetness with light fizzy lemonade and baked cooking apples. Floral notes of lavender emerge alongside a buttery, nutty richness.
Finish: Balanced, rich, dense, and velvety, yet bright and alive.
